What you can ask Dax

Dax reads documents, spreadsheets, presentations and code, and it can act on both your files and the board itself. These are the jobs it is built for.

The thing Dax is best at is looking through more files than you would want to open yourself.

  • “Which of these documents mentions the Q3 budget?”
  • “Find the file where I wrote about the Barcelona trip”
  • “What’s on this board?”
  • “Summarise this report”
  • “What are the main points of these three PDFs?”
  • “Explain what this script does”
  • “Pull the totals out of this spreadsheet”

It is specifically designed to understand large files without any limits.

Dax can also look at pictures, including the ones sitting on your board, inside your files and any you attach to a message. See Asking Dax.

You do not have to point Dax at one file at a time. It can go through a whole folder and report back.

  • “Go through all my lecture notes and list what each one covers”
  • “Which of these invoices have not been paid?”
  • “Compare these two contracts and tell me what changed”
  • “Write a summary of this document and save it as a new file”
  • “Fix the typos in my notes”
  • “Turn this recipe into a shopping list”
  • “Add a row to this spreadsheet for January”

Dax can add, edit, move and remove widgets, and rearrange what is on the board.

  • “Add a task list with everything I need to do this week”
  • “Group these files by subject”
  • “Add a timer and a note next to it”
  • “Tidy up this board”

Dax works on the open board and nothing else. It cannot reach files elsewhere on your computer, open other applications, or browse the web.
