Moving and copying
Your board is a real folder, so moving and copying work the way they do in your file manager, including to and from your file manager, other boards, and other apps.
Out of your board
Section titled “Out of your board”Cut and copy
Section titled “Cut and copy”Right-click a file or folder and choose Cut or Copy, or use
Ctrl/Cmd+C and Ctrl/Cmd+X. Then paste anywhere: another folder on the board, another board, a window in your file manager, or an app that accepts files.
This works with several items selected at once.
Dragging out
Section titled “Dragging out”Drag a file or folder from your board and drop it into another app or a file manager window. This creates a copy.
Start the drag from the file itself, not the grip handle. The grip handle moves the item around the board instead. See Moving items.
Into your board
Section titled “Into your board”Right-click a folder or empty board space and choose Paste, or press
Ctrl/Cmd+V. Everything on your clipboard is moved or copied in.
Drag and drop
Section titled “Drag and drop”Drag files in from your file manager, another board, or another app. When you drop them, a small menu asks what you meant:
| Option | What happens | Hold instead |
|---|---|---|
| Copy Here | A copy is made in this folder | Ctrl/Cmd |
| Move Here | The file is moved out of where it was | Shift |
| Add Shortcut | A shortcut is made here; the file stays where it is |
Holding the key while you drop skips the menu.
The Add File or Folder dialog
Section titled “The Add File or Folder dialog”Click + on the board and choose File or Folder, or right-click and choose New File or New Folder. Switch the dialog to its Upload tab, then drop a file on it or browse for one.
Add as Shortcut brings the file in as a shortcut rather than a copy, leaving the original where it is.
Between folders on the same board
Section titled “Between folders on the same board”Drag an item onto a folder and the same move-or-copy menu appears. Cut, copy and paste work between folders too.
