The board interface

Deskboard draws its own title bar across the top of the window.

What it does
Reload Reloads the board. Rarely needed, but it is the fix when something stops updating. See Troubleshooting.
Board tabs One tab per board open in this window. See below.
Annotate Enters annotation mode, where you draw over the board. See Annotation mode.
Edit / Done Enters and leaves edit mode. See Edit mode.
Dax Opens the AI assistant for this board. See Dax.
Full screen F11(Windows and Linux)orCtrl+Cmd+F(macOS)
Minimise, Maximise, Close Normal window controls. Maximise is hidden while you are in full screen.
Update Only appears when an update is waiting. Clicking it installs it. See Updating Deskboard.

The round + button in the bottom corner opens the add panel, which holds every widget plus File and Folder. Hovering an entry describes it.

It sits in the bottom left normally, and moves to the bottom right in edit mode.

See Adding widgets.

In edit mode, a panel opens along the side showing the settings for whatever is selected: an item, several items, or the board itself.

See Edit mode.

Right-click to get a menu about whatever is under the pointer:

  • An item: options for the file, folder or widget.
  • Empty space: the board’s own menu.
  • A multi-selection: the actions that make sense for all of the selected items at once

Full list of what each menu holds, and the shortcuts next to them, in Keyboard shortcuts.

Tabs only appear once you have more than one board open in a window, which happens when you open a board from inside another board. See Nested boards.

Click a tab to switch to it, or the x to close it. Boards you are not looking at stay loaded, so switching back is instant and anything playing keeps playing.

Right-clicking a tab gives you:

  • Reload: reload just that board
  • Open in New Window: move it out into a window of its own
  • Close, Close Other Tabs, Close Tabs to the Right
