Pinning and hiding

Right-click an item and choose Pin. Pinned items are drawn first inside their folder or group, ahead of whatever the sort order would have done, and carry a small pin marker.

Choose Unpin on the same menu to release it.

Pinning is for items inside a folder or group. Items on the board itself are already wherever you put them.

Right-click an item and choose Hide. It disappears from the board. The file is not deleted, moved or changed in any way. It is still in the folder, and still there in your file manager.

This is for the files you never need to look at but cannot remove: lock files, build output, a stray Thumbs.db.

Select the board background, or the folder the item was in, in edit mode. An Ignored Items section appears listing everything hidden there, with a button to unhide each one.

The section only exists while something is actually hidden.

Separately from the above, your system marks some files as hidden: anything beginning with a dot, and on Windows anything with the hidden attribute. Deskboard does not draw these by default.

To see them, tick Show Hidden Files. It is available on Board Settings for the whole board, and on an individual folder for just that folder.
